Participatory Integrated Community Development

  1. Training Objective

The community should be able to map and report details of their micro-projects and seek further funding for their projects.

  1. Training Specific Objectives

The trainer should be able to demonstrate to the trainee how to:

  1. Community entry and re-entry
  2. Situational analysis and visioning phase
  3. Planning phase
  4. Implementation phase
  1. Training Units /Content

“M01U01: Community entry and re-entry”

         Getting acquinted with the community,

         Building trust and relationship,

         Collection of basic data and

         Introduction/initiation phase.

“M01U02: Initiation Stage, Awareness Creation & Attitude Change phase

         This phase addresses attitude issues and enables the communities to discuss and understand what development is and why they must participate in their own development.

         The phase aims at changing the community members’ attitude towards development.

         They should be able to identify with and embrace development that is sustainable i.e. participatory development.

“M01U03: Situational analysis and visioning phase”

         Community mapping, Venn diagram (local institutions), Seasonal calendar, Daily routine schedule, Problems and resource, Visioning matrix, Long term goals setting and Selection of the planning committee.

“M01U04: Planning phase”

         Short term goals setting, Future map; Community action planning; Wealth ranking; Venn diagram (external institutions); and Preparation of Proposals.

“M01U04: Implementation Phase”

         Participatory impact monitoring (PIM); Training of community development committees; Evaluation phase; and Participatory evaluation.
