Content	Environment and Development
Introduction	This module covers the meaning, principles and practices of sustainable development. The Module draw the definition from the various relevant UN conferences especially “The United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, 1992. The definition systematically explore the three key pillar of sustainable development and some examples. The module then presents the evolution timeline of sustainable development from as early as 1962 to date based on an analysis by International Institute for Sustainable Development, 2006. The aim is to evoke an appreciation of the many efforts put by the international community into the evolution of sustainable development and thus is signification in development around the world. The above understanding then assist in isolating six key principles of sustainable development which are further elaboration in trainees glossary component. Finally, the module presents four key strategic actions internationally recognized and utilized by development actors to mainstream sustainable development at national, sub-national and local levels. Target Group	Materials for the following Environmental actors: • EPA-SL staff (as future facilitators); Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government (MDA’s); Civil Society Organizations; Enforcement Agencies and Private Sector; Media, and Judiciary
Module Objectives/Expected Objective	After the completion of the module, the trainees be in a position to: • Meaningfully participate actions that ensure development projects to ensure environmental issues are integrated into project planning, implementation and monitoring.
