M01U02: Facilitators’ Guide to Trainees’ Exercise
Content Details
Introduction A brief, general outline of the Unit indicating what will be covered. The Unit consist of two exercises: one of needs and wants and the second on exercise consist of three pillars of sustainable development. The facilitator should lead the trainees in going through the exercise and provide complimentary comments to their answers. The first task consist of two sets of questions. The first set has one questions that requires trainee to list their needs and wants. The second set consists of 4 questions that the facilitator should take the trainees through a question/answer session. The second task consist of discussion questions which assist the trainees in fitting their needs and wants within the three pillars of sustainable development, and Group work exercise which assist the trainees in applying the leant knowledge in the country’s development context.

Materials for the following Environmental actors:
• EPA-SL staff (as future facilitators); Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government (MDA’s); Civil Society Organizations; Enforcement Agencies and Private Sector; Media, and Judiciary

Pre-requisite skills /Knowledge
Any skill sets necessary for trainee to have before the taking the Unit e.g. basic training on any environmental related course or work experience related to environmental management
The trainee should have a certificate, diploma, degree or post-graduate training in an environmental related discipline and at least xxx months/years working with an organization /institute/agency with an environmental related mandate
Pre-Unit activities
Anything the trainee need to do before the module e.g. complete knowledge / skills assessment questionnaire; watch a video /read a case study
The trainees should attend the power point presentation
Additional Facilitator materials
Resources, if relevant, that could be consulted to support facilitators in the delivery of the content /use to develop handouts etc. These should be resources for facilitators rather than for trainees, which are not included in the list of additional resources

Equipment needed
