3.3 Instructional materials
The delivery of the EMT manual will be supported by additional instructional materials that include: (i) facilitators general instruction materials and (ii) facilitors guidelines.a. Facilitator instructional materials:
o General EGMT manual: The facilitors should familiarise themselves with the manual to ensure that they can competently use, adapt and improve the structure, methodology, and content. In addtion, the facilitators should ensure they understand how the differ: (i) Competence Levels, Modules; and Units, facilitors guidelines and trainees notes and complementary materials that include .
o Facilitator guidelines. This is packaged in a structural template that consist of the following features: (i) title; (ii) application context; (iii) target group; (iv) training objectives; (v) training objectives; (vi) training units/content; (vii) training methodology; and (viii) training resources. The facilitator guide provides the following: (i) purpose, agenda and overall objectives of the competence level; (iv) key point to emphasis about the module, units and components; (ii) reference materials; (iii) list of all the items required to conduct the training program; (iv) suggested methods to present the topics e.g. lecture, Question and Answer (Q&A) sessions, breakout group discussions, field excursions as well as such materials as use of flip charts, projector, chalkboard, video, etc.; and (v) suggested timelines for each topic or module.
b. Trainees instructional materials:
o General EGMT Manual: The trainees are provided the entire EGMT manual to assist them understand the overview structure of the manual, its relevance to their professional needs, comptence levels so as to identify the entry competence levels or the desired modules for competence in certain areas of professional practice.
o Trainee notes: The trainee are provided with notes to modules, units, and compelmentary instructional manaterial which are packaged into a template features: (i) introduction; (ii) target group; (iii) unit’s specific objectives; (iv) key words /key concepts; (v) content outline, main topics covered and suggested sequencing; (vi) pre-requisite skills /knowledge; (vii) pre-unit activities; (viii) additional facilitator materials; (ix) equipment needed; and (x) comments (template 1).
